Deaf teacher of TSD dies by hit-and-run in Austin, Texas.
AUSTIN, Texas -- Police are looking for a hit-and-run driver involved in a deadly crash Sunday morning on West Slaughter Lane in Circle C of south Austin.
Police say the driver of a pickup truck ran off the road and hit a Deaf man jogging on the sidewalk. The driver drove off, then got out of the truck and ran from the scene.
Family and friends have identified the victim as Mark Gobble, a professor and former teacher at the Texas School for the Deaf. Gobble was hearing-impaired. The 37-year-old was also finishing his doctorate at the University of Texas. Gobble was preparing to move to the east coast, to teach at Gallaudet University.
A man on the run after hitting and killing a jogger in South Austin turned himself in to police. Police say 20-year-old Roman Turullos-Gonzalez hit and killed Mark Gobble as he was running on the sidewalk Sunday morning.
