WATCH [CC] - Santa surprises parents by signing to her daughter at the UK shopping mall goes viral on social media.
MIDDLESBROUGH -- "Mali" Phoenix Williams-Cody, aged 3, has visited the Cleveland Centre's special event days several times. Mali's parents have some great photos of her at Halloween as well as Christmas. She came with her mum on Saturday to meet Santa Claus.
Mali is not Deaf, she struggles to communicate with speech and language. She has been attending a special school to help with her communication and this is were she learned sign language.
As seen in the video, Santa asked Mali’s mum if she could sign and touched hearts all over the world when he sprung in to action signing to Mali if she wanted a doll for Christmas. Her reaction is priceless and touched all of us who witnessed it live. Mali's parents were so pleased they could capture such a special moment and share it with the world."

Miracle on 34th Street Deaf Girl & Santa Scene
High-Definition quality video of a little Deaf girl (Sami) and Santa (Richard Attenborough) signing in ASL "Miracle On 34th Street" scene.
Miracle On 34th Street (1994) - In the scene, a young Deaf girl is brought to sit on the lap of Kriss Kringle at the fictional Cole's department store. Kringle (Richard Attenborough), who hasn't been told of the child's disability, asks her what she would like for Christmas.
After her mother informs him that her child is Deaf and that all she wanted was to sit on Santa's lap, Kringle summons his seasonal powers and begins a sign-language (American Sign Language) conversation.
The stoic girl is transformed on camera with a delighted, surprised smile, signing back her answers, much to the tearful surprise of her mother and more than a few audience members.
As it happens, there is something even more touching about the scene: It is acted by 5-year-old Sami Krieger, the second of three Deaf children born to Jay and Linda Krieger, both of whom are also Deaf.
In the living room of their modest duplex in Hanover Park, a middle-class suburb of Chicago, Sami fidgets in her father's lap, grappling with a temporary case of acute shyness, while her sisters Amanda, 6, and Wanda, 1, look on.
Jay Krieger, with the help of a sign-language interpreter, says of making the film, "The experience was wonderful, really great. The (John) Hughes (production) people treated Sami like royalty, giving her a trailer with a star that had her name on it, which made her feel special," he says.... Read The Full Story.

KODA Girl In Kindergarten Holiday Concert
The video has been going viral... S-A-N-T-A: Adorable girl signs kindergarten holiday concert for Deaf parents.
CLEARWATER, Florida -- A "fake" sign language interpreter at Nelson Mandela's memorial prompted one Deaf mom to show the world how it's really done.
Very entertaining video of a KODA (kid of deaf adults) enthusiastically singing holiday songs using sign language and animated facial expressions. Watch this and it would be the best 3:40 minutes you've spent in your day.
Lori Putney Koch of Clearwater, Fla., on Wednesday tweeted that her 5-year-old daughter, Claire, did a better job signing for her Deaf parents at a kindergarten holiday concert at Plumb Elementary School.
In the too-cute video posted on YouTube, Claire (in the middle, with the blonde hair) can be seen singing along with her classmates while signing in American Sign Language. Her animated facial expressions are just Claire being herself, her mom told TODAY Moms: "She is full of personality and spunk, that's the Claire we know."
The video also caught the eye of actress Marlee Matlin, who is Deaf.
Both Koch, who works as a business analyst at ZVRS, a video relay service company for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, and her husband, Tom, who runs his own SCUBA business, were born Deaf. Claire and her sister, 2-year-old Charlotte, can hear, Koch said, but have been exposed to American Sign Language since birth. "It is our first language in our household," she told TODAY via email.
"Claire used sign language in the play because she was considerate of us and wanted us to understand the lyrics to the song," Koch said. "She was signing to her parents, looking right into my iPhone as she knew I was recording her. We don't use our daughter as an interpreter, but if there is something we missed, she would likely relay it to us."
Koch said there's a community of KODA, Kids of Deaf Adults (or CODA, Children of Deaf Adults), who are enthusiastically applauding Claire's lively performance.
Meanwhile, the interpreter at Nelson Mandela's funeral has told a Johannesburg newspaper that he was experiencing a schizophrenia episode during the funeral. His gibberish sign language outraged Deaf people around the world... Read The Full Story.
