Vehicle Crashed Into Deaf School Bus

Car rear-ends bus from Arizona State Schools for the Deaf and the Blind.

PHOENIX, Arizona -- Police are investigating a crash in which a car rear-ended a school bus from the Arizona State Schools for the Deaf and the Blind. It happened just before 4 p.m. Friday on the Interstate 17 frontage road near Northern Avenue.

Captain Rob McDade of the Phoenix Fire Department said there were children are on the bus, but none of them was hurt. The bus driver reportedly had minor injuries, as did the driver of the car that hit the bus. The bus driver was treated at the scene. The driver of the car reportedly was taken to the hospital.

Police said this was a chain-reaction three-vehicle wreck. The car that hit the bus had been rear-ended by a another vehicle.

A second bus was brought in to pick up the students.

The Arizona Department of Transportation tweeted that it closed the I-17 Northern Avenue off-ramp while the on-scene portion of the investigation was underway.

The ASDB Phoenix Campus is located at 7654 N. 19th Ave., which is not far from the scene of the crash.

Deaf Alabama Man Killed In Early Morning Crash

Deaf man killed in crash off Taylor Road in Montgomery.

MONTGOMERY, Alabama -- Montgomery police say a Deaf Montgomery man was killed in a single-car wreck early this morning.

Police say 34-year-old Rodney Vaughans, Jr. was killed when his car hit a tree. The wreck happened around 5AM in the 300 block of Taylor Road North near Brownwood Lane. Police are still investigating what led up to the crash.

A Montgomery man was killed in a crash early Friday morning.

According to Montgomery Police Captain Regina Duckett, at around 5 a.m. officers and fire medics responded to the 300 block of Taylor Road North in reference to a single-vehicle crash involving a 2009 Dodge Charger. The driver, Rodney Vaughans Jr., 34, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Duckett said an investigation indicates the vehicle was traveling north on Taylor Road North when it left the roadway near Brownwood Lane and hit a tree.

Deaf Driver Crashes Into Convenience Store

Unlicensed, first-time driver crashes into Keizer 7-Eleven, police say.

KEIZER, Oregon -- A Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by a Deaf, unlicensed, first-time driver plowed into a Keizer 7-Eleven Friday morning, according to police. No one was injured.

At about 11 a.m., the SUV crashed through the front door of the convenience store, at 4380 River Rd. N. Surveillance video shows the shock of the crash.

The driver, 22-year-old Cindy Rosas Ortega, is Deaf and had never driven a car before, according to Deputy Chief Jeffrey Kuhns of Keizer police.

A passenger, 27-year-old Johana Gomez Ortega, told officers she was notable to tell Rosas Ortega how to stop the SUV before it crashed.

Rosas Ortega was cited for driving without a license and Gomez Ortega was cited for providing a vehicle to an unlicensed driver.

Deaf Woman Killed After Driver Suspected Of DUI

Nevada woman who was killed in horrific crash on Spring Mountain at Rainbow was Deaf.

LAS VEGAS, Nevada -- A Deaf woman was killed in Wednesday's horrific crash involving a suspected drunk driver. She worked as an Uber driver.

Family and friends say Jenio Eugenio was driving home from work, just four weeks on the job when she never made it home.

Despite being Deaf Eujenio didn't let her disability get in the way of her goals.

Through a Deaf Interpreter, her family expresses outrage. Her loved ones devastated and in tears after learning Eugenio was killed by a suspected driving under the influence driver, 3 a.m. Wednesday.

"You murderer, you murderer why did you kill my friend," says girlfriend, Maja Valdez.

Police believe Victor Sandoval was driving under the influence when he ran through several red lights before slamming into Eugenio's car.

"I miss her a lot I miss her so much," says Eugenio's friend, Rose Andaya.

Maja Valdez lived with Eugenio for more than a decade. She describes her partner as a sweet and supportive person.

"I lost my soulmate. We use to always be together and care for each other, now that she's gone. I'm alone. I'm alone now in this big house by myself." says Valdez.

Tonight friends are left with more heartbreak than answers.

"Why did you murder my friend? Why were you driving? Why were you looking for trouble? My friend was innocent and she was deaf just why," says Andaya.

According to law enforcement, Sandoval remains hospitalized. Police say charges against him are pending.
