Deaf News: Haiti protest demands justice for three slain Deaf women.

PORT AU PRINCE, HAITI -- Wednesday, March 30 at a press conference several organizations defending the rights of the disabled: the Haitian Society for Aid to the Blind (SHAA), the National Associative Network for the Integration of Persons with Disabilities (RANIPH), the National Federation of the Deaf of Haiti (FNSH) and the Association of Deaf of évèque, Haiti (ASLH) came together to denounce the triple murder of three Deaf women, lynched after being taken for "witches", while they sought only a place to sleep in the zone of Haut Damier, area near Cabaret on March 18 in Port Au Prince, Haiti.

These organizations who for a long time struggle to enforce the rights of the disabled, launched an appeal of distress and sadness to the authorities to ensure respect for the rights of disabled people in the country. They require government: justice and compensation for the families of 3 women cowardly murdered (Jésula Germain, mère de six enfants, Vanessa Prévil and Monique Vincent).

Upset, Gérald Oriol Jr., Secretary of State for the Integration of Persons with Disabilities, strongly condemned these crimes "This is unthinkable in our society that such crimes be committed" recalling that one of the three victims was pregnant three months. Gérald Oriol Jr believes that society should say no to violence, no to discrimination.

For Dr. Michel A. Pean, coordinator of the SHAA "it is time to question the customs and outdated traditions of certain elements of Haitian culture..."

In addition, in a statement, the Board of Directors of the Arche Haiti, points out that "these odious crimes, remind that committed on our revered dumb musician Ti-Pierre in the 1990s. They challenge our conscience. It is time that the judicial authorities take into account, as well as all other citizens of the country, the needs of disabled victims. It is worth remembering that any person affected by intellectual disabilities and / or physical is a full persons that deserves the consideration of everyone."

Friday, April 1, to honor the memory of the three victims a march is planned in Port-au-Prince, the gathering and departure will take place at 8:00 am in front of the St. Vincent Center and will end in sit-in front of the Ministry of Justice.

These women need a proper burial and the children who have lost their mother's are in need of food, shelter and a little bit of comfort. Deaf Brazilian Man Executed During Robbery

Deaf News: Security camera captures young Deaf man executed during robbery for not responding thugs in Brazil.

Featured on LiveLeak , the footage of a Deaf young man shot and killed by five armed bandits during a robbery on the vehicle that was the route Sao Paulo.

According to the passengers, he was able to identify more than 5 shots. The case was referred to the police to continue the investigation.

Deaf Woman Murdered In Alabama

A man is arrested for murder 55-year-old Deaf woman.

MOBILE, Alabama -- Mobile police have arrested Myles Xavier Smith for the shooting death of a 55-year-old woman named Dawn Lee.

The crime happened outside her home in the Onderdonk housing community off Shelton Beach Road. News 5 spoke with a woman who called police minutes after the shooting happened.

Carrie Hudson says it was around 3 o'clock Wednesday morning when a neighbor woke her up. "He said Dawn been shot. He says I heard a gun shot and when I came to the door she was laying in the street," Hudson said.

Although Lee's front door is taped with a warning sign that reads "Beware of Gun," Hudson says she doesn't know why Lee was targeted. "She's a nice lady. I don't even know why she was out at three in the morning," she said.

Hudson says Lee's apartment door was locked and her car was parked in its usual spot. She also says many of the residents in the housing community are hearing impaired. "We all look out for each other. Anybody that dies here dies from natural causes never anyone getting shot. This the first we heard of," she said.

Mobile police say Smith is also responsible for a shooting at ITT Tech earlier this year. Smith allegedly got into an argument with another student and shot him in the arm. That case was bound over to the Grand Jury and Smith was actually out on bond when today's shooting happened. He's now charged with murder and possession of a controlled substance... Deaf Man Beaten To Death In His Home

Deaf man beaten to death in his home. His nose was broken, his larynx crushed and clumps of hair ripped from his head.

AURORA, Colorado -- Jonny Braning did a hilarious impression of Elvis. Though he was Deaf, the 48-year-old man had lived a full life.

The simple pleasures Jonny lived for seeing his granddaughter and making people smile were all taken from him between Feb. 26 and March 7, 2002, when someone bludgeoned him to death in his small Aurora apartment.

Robbery may have been the intent, according to a story by former Rocky Mountain News reporter Sarah Huntley. But it was hard for investigators to understand why.

Jonny was living on disability and didn’t have much money, Huntley reported.

Over the years he had worked for King Soopers, Jolly Rancher and as a janitor for a telecommunications company. But he was unemployed and lived on his monthly disability check. He would go to a corner store and write a note for a clerk when he needed something. He lived in a small apartment at 1097 S. Evanston Way.

It appeared that whoever killed Jonny first attacked him in his bedroom, possibly with some type of blunt weapon, which was never found. Apparently a battle continued into his living room.

His body was found lying on the floor in his living room by maintenance workers who became worried when they realized they hadn’t seen the man, who was a fixture of the complex, in days. The carpet was soaked with blood...
