HOLLYWOOD -- The YouTube series of star-studded cemeteries produced by Arthur Dark are becoming must-see tombstone tourism.

It was almost like Arthur Dark was born for this.

He’s got the voice, the passion, video editing chops, research skills, the look - and the vocabulary that lends to entertaining (and respectful) YouTube tours of notable graveyards around Los Angeles and the country.

Filmmaker Arthur Dark and composer Giusppe Vasapolli take you on a journey of remembrance in their Famous Grave Tour videos.

Amassing over 100,000 subscribers since it’s debut in 2017, Dark’s Hollywood Graveyard channel is one of the most popular series of its type online.

We had a chance to ask him about our local cemeteries, the diversity of sizes and styles of celebrity gravestones, and what’s the deal with unmarked graves.

What got you interested in documenting graveyards on YouTube?

It was a combination of many things: combined interests in entertainment, Hollywood history and a dash of the macabre.

Initially, I just found visiting famous graves myself fascinating, being able to connect with and pay my respects to individuals whose work I knew and loved. And in connecting with individuals I already knew, I would be introduced to new ones along the way, introduced to them, and their work - movies, TV shows, music, writings, etc., opening me up to an as-of-yet untapped mine of entertainment. I was delving much deeper into the history of Hollywood and entertainment, and in doing so, broadening my own horizons, so to speak.

These were experiences I was sure others would enjoy, and appreciate, but it’s not always easy (or possible) to find famous graves. So I sought to find ways to make tombstone tourism more accessible, make it less intimidating, easier to find the graves of these notable individuals, or if not possible to visit them in person, allow audiences to visit them “virtually” through video tours. #whyIsign Kickstarter Fundraiser Introduction

WATCH [CC] - #whyIsign Kickstarter fundraiser introduction by Brandon Kazen-Maddox.

SAN FRANCISCO -- The focus of this video is a #whyIsign Kickstarter fundraiser. This Kickstarter's goal is to create a brand-new ASL music video in collaboration with 13 Deaf, Hard-of-Hearing, CODA and GODA artists.

The Kickstarter is set at $10,000 and 80% of the money raised will go directly back to the Deaf community to support Deaf-owned and operated businesses in the Bay Area. The remaining 20% will go towards the production of the ASL music video and to pay the Deaf artists for their work in this project.

We will launch the Kickstarter at the beginning of April and it will last for one month! The link will be posted here once the fundraiser is live.

Deaf Actors In New The Web Series 'Fridays'

Deaf gay actor co-creates and stars, Josh Feldman and Shoshannah Stern in new the webseries 'Fridays'

Fridays is a web series about best friends Kate and Michael, who live in Los Angeles and have just undergone huge life changes: Kate is newly married and Michael is newly single.

The main characters are Deaf and communicate in American Sign Language (ASL), with subtitles for people who don’t know sign language. Kate and Michael are two Deaf people who live in a hearing world, to comic, tragic, painfully funny, and joyous results.

Kung Fury has been released for free on YouTube. Kung Fury is an over-the-top 1980’s action comedy that was crowd funded through Kickstarter.

During an unfortunate series of events a friend of Kung Fury is assasinated by the most dangerous Kung Fu master criminal of all time; Adolf Hitler, a.k.a Kung Führer. Kung Fury decides to travel back in time, to Nazi Germany, in order to kill Hitler and end the Nazi empire once and for all.

The film features nazis, dinosaurs, vikings and cheesy one-liners. The campaign that was launched in December 2013 was backed by more than 17,000 people who together gave more than $630.000.

Deaf Short Film: "Always Chasing Love"

An American Foreign Language film about a former foster child’s journey to find her birth parents and the chaos that ensues.

What is always chasing love? Based on a compilation of true events and uniquely told in American Sign Language (ASL), Italian and English (American and Australian), 'Always Chasing Love' depicts the impact of child abandonment and foster care, the pursuit of family, intimacy and acceptance, and the importance of honest communication in relationships.

It is an arthouse narrative of colliding love stories, triggered by a pained Jennifer Anderson’s passionate and tumultuous journey to find her birth parents. After getting a lead as to her parents' whereabouts, Jennifer's actions cause heartbreak that snowballs into a crime-of-passion. The resulting crime is investigated by the famously meticulous and no-nonsense Detective Simon Willis of the Sign Language Police Department (SLPD).

Why is always chasing love on Kickstarter? Jadolphus Fraser started the journey of making this film with the goal that it be self-funded. Unfortunately, while in the finishing stages of post-production, he suffered the catastrophe that all creators fear the crashing of hard drives, both primary and back-up, simultaneously.

Despite being devastated by this calamity, Jadolphus adhered to his commitment to finish the film, and once again embarked upon re-producing and directing this unique film from pre-production to completion. However, his financial resources are now depleted, thus bringing him to Kickstarter.
