'Seek The World' The Blackface Controversy

Deaf traveler, Calvin Young of 'Seek The World' apologizes for Blackface.

'Seek the World', a co-founder Calvin Young's accountability apology for Blackface controversy on Facebook platform in the ASL and Deaf community.

"I am here to hold myself accountable for my wrongful action that I made back in 2011. I want to apologize deeply about that. I posted a picture of myself wearing 'blackface' on my personal profile and then I commented about how I would be a 'black uncle' (referring to Uncle Tom) under that picture. As of right now, I have taken down the picture permanently from my personal profile.

In this video, I shared the history about Blackface and Uncle Tom, and I explained why it is wrong and offensive to the people of color community.

It is important that we all hold ourselves accountable for any action we make. Do not sweep anything under the rug. We all always have accountability for our own actions regardless if it is in the past. I encourage us all to be open with each other and have a dialogue about topics related to Social Justice.

Having a dialogue with open mind and open heart is how we all grow together."

Calvin Young's settlement shows on Facebook.

However, an openly Gay Ricky Taylor aka Ridor9th is well-known as one of the most controversial blogger in the ASL and Deaf community, share thoughts on Calvin Young's ridiculous blackface. This vlog is about the vlog produced by Calvin founded his show, Seek the World sponsored by SorensonVRS.

Ricky Taylor's comment for Calvin Young's recent apology vlog about his action in 2011 (blackface) is not acceptable and is inexcusable in the light of his background. Shame on you, Calvin. You knew better than that in the first place.

Calvin Young's apology is pretentious in attempts to save his face.

This is it - You've reached the place that perhaps the only Deaf Gay man that knew almost ... everything about your lives. Enjoy the ride. Cheers, R-

Deaf American Learns Japanese Sign Language

Deaf American who uses ASL learns Japanese Sign Language.

A Deaf activist and Youtuber, Rikki Poynter, a Deaf American who uses American Sign Language (ASL) learns Japanese Sign Language (JSL), she would like to sharing and educating Deaf and Hearing people about Deaf Japanese culture.

To activate this feature, press the "CC" button.

Giving someone 'middle finger' in Japanese Sign Language doesn't mean what you think it does. The seemingly rude gesture is just a normal word when you put it into context but can you guess what it means? It might seem like a rude gesture to us but giving someone 'the finger' simply means 'brother' when you put it into the context of Japanese Sign Language.

However, while the middle finger might not actually mean something as crude as it does in American or English culture, many Japanese people are now more than aware of the double meaning after the gesture has emerged in films.

Check it out at This Is Not 'F**k You' In Japanese Sign Language.

Deaf Man Sues Pornhub For Lack Of Captions

Pornhub is being sued by a Deaf man because only a small percentage of the videos uploaded onto the website are captioned.

PHOENIX -- A man is reportedly suing an adult video website for alleged rights violations because there is a lack of closed captioning on at least some videos.

According to TMZ, Yaroslav Suris' lawsuit against Pornhub claims the lack of closed captioning violates the rights of Deaf and Hearing-Impaired under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of the United States Code.

To activate this feature, press the "CC" button.

In court documents cited by TMZ, Suris claims the Deaf and Hearing Impaired can't understand the audio portion of videos on the websites, and listed a number of videos that the man watched, but couldn't understand the dialogue.

In the documents, Suris reportedly claims he and those in similar situations would pay money for a premium subscription, but calls it pointless without the subtitles.

Suris, according to the TMZ report, is suing for Pornhub to add closed captioning, in addition to damages. Pornhub officials told TMZ the website does have a closed captions category, and says the company generally does not comment on active lawsuits. This is not the first time the issue of closed captioning for online videos has been in the spotlight.

According to a 2015 report by the BBC, a YouTuber named Rikki Poynter raised awareness for closed captioning on YouTube. A video made by Poynter on the issue was cited by popular YouTuber Tyler Oakley as an inspiration for him to add closed captioning to all his videos on YouTube.

St. Augustine The Dysfunctional Deaf Community

St. Augustine is the most dysfunctional Deaf Community in the Nation.

A Deaf blogger, Ricky Taylor claims St. Augustine is the most dysfunctional Deaf Community in the Nation.

Openly Gay Ricky Taylor aka Ridor9th, known as one of the most controversial blogger in ASL & Deaf community, share thoughts on the cause and explained.

Why do I think St Augustine is the most dysfunctional Deaf Community in the nation?

Chrissy Stein, 'nuff said. Lots of cringeworthy vlogs to check upon.

Matt Silvay, 'nuff said. If I talk about him, I give you a long list of his atrocities.

Marija Todorovic, she stole the husband from her own sorority sister. Not only that, Marija was ex of Matt, too.

Joseph Kolb, that should say enough, right?

Eric LeFors, the so-called Head Coach of several sports was infamous for committing adultery behind his wife and proclaimed that he had been "faithful" after attending their Church's so-called marriage counseling. Yeah right. And at Deaf school (FSDB) and in St Augustine, Eric is adored as fuck.

Many Deaf folks heavily professed themselves as Christians but when nobody is watching, dozens of them committed adultery with each other.

In their bizarre attempts to save their marriages, they frequently seek the church for marriage counseling - most, if not all, churches' so-called marriage counseling is unlicensed and very bad idea. They basically claimed that putting your energy and love into Jesus Christ will make their marriage strong and blissful. Yay, menage a trois!

Many are anti-gay homophobes while claimed to be all good Christians. In fact, many are frenzied born-again Christians like the Abenchuchans and shit. They would be very loud and critical of gays.

Joner brothers participated in gay porn activities, has girlfriends and one of them did ejaculate on the other brother's leg.

How do I know about the Joner brothers? A heavy fucking Christian dude out of that town alerted me about them - ask yourself, how the fuck did he know if he's so-called Christian?

Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind has a large enrollment of Deaf Students in the nation roughly 1K students and PIPers and yet, not many Deaf students go to postsecondary institutions.

More and more Deaf Snowbirds are coming into the town. A friend of a well known Deaf Family from Maryland, the Lewises, was caught on hidden camera for stealing properties from the owner's house as well as talking shit about the owner.

Instead of going after the thief, the Lewises went after the owner for having a hidden camera which was set up to monitor the water hose due to the fact that the neighbor has been stealing water from their property.

Needless to say, there are plenty of more to come. And that is only out of St Augustine, Florida.

Folks, I will add more whenever people contact me to add if needed. So come back and understand why I said St Augustine is the most dysfunctional Deaf Community in the nation!

Cheers, R-

Carl Schroeder In Gay Solo Action

Deaf educator, vlogger Carl Schroeder in gay solo action has gone viral on social media platform in Deaf community.

Warning: Some viewers may find this images distressing. This content that is not suitable for under ages.

Ricky Taylor (aka Ridor9th) who is known as the most controversial blogger and vlogger in Deaf community, he posted an article on his blog "Carl Schroeder In Gay Solo Action" has gone viral on social media platform in Deaf community.

Read it and weep...

Let's close 2018 with a bang with the shock evidence for you all to use your hand to cover your mouth that will open wide after seeing the damaging video clips.

Watch Ricky Taylor's ASL vlog "Guilty As Fuck!"

Carl Schroeder died 5 years ago of illness associated with Pancreatic Cancer. He was well known Deaf educator and v/blogger who would go after people who disagreed with his vision, argument or conversation.

Carl Schroeder used to teach at dozens of colleges including Gallaudet University and Western Oregon University.

It is open secret that I was vocal critic about his so-called "Deaf Hate Crime" which I occasionally disputed his claims as he tried to compare his findings with homophobia.

It is well known that Carl Schroeder was the culprit, whom Ella Mae Lentz encouraged him to proceed, who called Maryland's Child Protection Services on my sister in retaliation of me being critical of Carl and Ella Mae in 2010 back in Frederick, Maryland.

Ella Mae Lentz cannot deny this because I still retain the copies of group email correspondence which clearly pinned on Ella Mae Lentz and Carl Schroeder.

Yes, the CPS interviewed me, my Mother, my sister, my sister's kid, Debra Garner and her kids at our homes and at MSD. It was quite confusing and embarrassing at that time.

All because Carl and Ella Mae did do this to harm and embarrass my family members just to retaliate on me. That was such a disgraceful thing to see.

If you know me very well, these things won't silence me. It makes me ... more of a defiant than ever.

Even after Carl's death, I always knew that things like this will emerge. Karma does not care if one is dead or not, it always comes out on its own time.

And I have no qualms about using it to my benefits even to trample and discredit on him even after his death.

After all, he was the one who did do that to me, my sister, my niece and my mother the first time around. Hence I reserve the right to do the same.

Yes, I am aware that Carl has his children and family still alive these days. Like I said, he pulled this disturbing tactic on my family members and in turn, I don't give a shit about whether if this is going to impact his children and his family!

Carl Schroeder started this and I finished the job like Scalphunter did do to his victim.

A friend of mine went to a gay bathhouse not a long time ago, he apparently wanted to get his rocks off which is normal for any gay man.

Most gay bathhouses tend to show variety of gay porn activity on their TV screens. My friend was shocked to see Carl Schroder performing the solo action under "mature men" videos. Needless to say, my friend recorded of this inside the bathhouse and shared it with me.

Judging the video clips, it is obvious that Carl did do this sometimes in 2000s when he was in Hawaii or Oregon. At the time, he was active in the Deaf Vlogosphere and yet, he participated in this.

I'm enclosing the edited video clips for you to see. You cannot deny that the person on the video clips are Carl Schroeder himself.

Cheers,

R-

What It's Like To Raise A Deaf Child

Raising a Deaf child: Parents share how they found out a child was deaf and how they raised a child.

Finding out your baby / child is Deaf can be devastating - but it’s not the end of the world. In this video, Ashley Clark Fry's parents share their experience of finding out she was born deaf and their journey raising her in the hearing world.

To activate this feature, press the "CC" button.

Did you know that many hearing parents of Deaf children do not learn sign language to communicate with their Deaf child? Growing up, Ashley had so many people-like teachers, interpreters, people working in the Deaf education field, etc. tell Ashley all the time how lucky she was to have her parents learning sign language to communicate with her. They were amazed at how well her parents handled having a deaf baby and raising a Deaf child with no prior knowledge about the Deaf community and sign language.

Ashley can’t imagine what it’s like to find out that your baby was born deaf. But she do know that it’s not the end of the world. She was born deaf and was raised by hearing parents and Ashley turned out okay. And my hope is that this video will reach new hearing parents to share and encourage that it’s not the end of the world if your baby is DEAF. It will have some tough moments, but it’s all about perspective and learning how to adjust and live a little differently.

Ashley wanted to interview her parents to share their story -- what it was like finding out that their baby was deaf and what it was like to raise a deaf child - and also to share what they decided to do and why they made the decisions they made in hopes that hearing parents of Deaf babies / children would find this and be encouraged and help them make more informed decisions. Back then, her parents didn’t have anyone to ask, and couldn't even Google it - as there wasn’t internet in 1989 when Ashley was born. She hope with this video is that hearing parents can make more informed and educated decisions for their Deaf baby / child.

Hope you enjoyed the interview!

Deafies in Drag - Deaf, Latino Comedy Duo

Meet two Deaf, Latino drag queens who earned internet fame.

The Deaf comedy duo, cheekily nicknamed "Deafies in Drag," has been making YouTube videos covering a range of topics, beat faces, death drops, lip-syncing, killer reads and tongue pops are just a few of the things that typically come to mind when we think about drag queens. The duo explains: who is Deafies in Drag?

Being deaf does not, but that’s just one of many differences that separates Casavina and Selena Minogue from your average queen. Sometimes they just have fun on camera, playing games like Heads Up, and other times they address some of the struggles that affect today's Deaf community. A few videos are makeup tutorials, and many are outlandish comedy sketches filmed in front of a green screen. Together, they have a simple, but important goal in creating videos: using humor to expose LGBTQ folks to Deaf individuals, and vice versa.

"The Deaf community is not strongly exposed to drag queens or [LGBTQ] culture, and the [LGBTQ] community is not strongly aware of Deaf people either.” Deafies in Drag told OUT. “So we try to expose both of them along with our third identity, being Latino, to share that we all experience oppression, discrimination and face a lot challenges in life. We take these unfortunate moments and turn them into comedy to forget the seriousness and not let it get us down."

Back in 2010, Jimmy and Alvaro first met at Gallaudet University in Washington D.C., the only Deaf University in the world. Shortly after, they began dating and have been together now for more than six years. While in college, the two loved making comedy sketches for Facebook. "But we felt limited doing just male characters and wanted to expand our creativity,” they said. “Drag opened the door for us, allowing us to express our ideas and stories more fully.”

Like many other late-in-life drag queens, they discovered the art through RuPaul’s Drag Race. "It was season 2, and we remember being so confused by RuPaul's identity," the pair said. "As we kept watching, we realized how creative drag was and how it’s flexible without any real rules. We knew that was exactly what we needed for our videos, and began learning makeup through YouTube."

And so began their experimentation with drag, creating various characters before settling on Casavina and Selena Minogue. A direct translation to "House of Wine" in Spanish, Casavina’s look and persona are heavily influenced by Amy Winehouse, while Selena Minogue is named after two of Alvaro’s favorite singers: Selena Quintanilla and Kylie Minogue.

Besides their immaculate makeup and comedic banter, the two have an arresting stage presence that's heavily influenced by being deaf. "It enhances our visual,” they said. “Facial and body expression is part of American Sign Language, and it helps us to paint a certain look that goes with [our] facial expressions." Their grand gestures and over-the-top facial expressions lend itself perfectly to drag, making for wildly hilarious videos that simultaneously spotlight intersectional issues.

Once their channel, Deafies and Drag, started to gain more widespread recognition, the duo began traveling to various cities, where they met with fans for the first time. "They made us realize we were doing more than just fooling around on videos," the two said. "We were helping to spread awareness of our barriers. This motivated us to use our drag to spread positivity and educate people through comedy."

Since creating a platform for themselves to reach out to members of both the LGBTQ and Deaf communities, the two have not stopped educating the public, projecting positivity and ultimately inspiring hope. "We believe that no matter what obstacles or challenges you face, there is always another way to get around it," they said. "We don't let society put rules and limits on us just because we're deaf. It's important to know that whatever dreams you have, you go for it."
