Bad Lip Reading - 'NFL 2020'

More stuff that could have been said, celebrating 100 years of The NFL.

The Super Bowl may be over, but we're just now getting to our favorite football event of the year: the NFL Bad Lip Reading.

The Bad Lip Reading YouTube channel excels at making it seem like real people are saying the darndest things, and the channel has been uploading NFL Bad Lip Readings since 2013.

To activate this feature, press the "CC" button.

This year's montage gives us New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady saying, "I hate cats. Why they gotta pee in the little tub?" And if that alone doesn't sell you, you can also watch a referee say, "Your face is a face I've been avoiding for seven years. If I have to look back at it, I'll break down for sure."

Thankfully, coaches and fans are not immune from the Bad Lip Reading treatment. And don't worry, there are plenty of highlights of Super Bowl champ Patrick Mahomes, even if they're not the kind we're used to seeing him in.

Bad Lip Reading - "Royal Wedding"

This Bad Lip Reading imagines a very different, very weird Royal Wedding these days.

More than 29 million viewers in the U.S. alone tuned in to watch Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal wedding at Windsor Castle on May 19 -- but not every moment was perfectly broadcast for us to hear at home. Enter the “lip reading.”

In this 'Bad Lip Reading' satire video, the team of jokesters at the Bad Lip Reading account imagines just what’s going down in the dialogue that we missed, from Prince Harry and Prince William‘s head-scratching exchange to an alternative sermon delivered by the Bishop Michael Curry. Prepare for some prime reaction shots, too, from audience members like the Duchess of Cambridge, Sir Elton John and soccer star David Beckham.

To activate this feature, press the "CC" button.

But perhaps the best parts are their recaps between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex as they hold hands and take their vows, or as they interact with the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby. We know he didn’t ask them about their favorite Harry Potter characters, of course -- but you can’t deny that these bad lip readers have done a great job of coming up with alternatives that look pretty plausible in another, weirder, funnier universe.

Relive the royal wedding in an entirely new way with the video, above.

'Bad Lip Reading' The Presidential Poetry Slam

A Bad Lip Reading turns the second Presidential Debate at University of Nevada into a poetry slam.

Donald and Hillary try to top each other's poetry while occasionally fielding questions from the audience. Who knew that the presidential debate could be so poetic?

The candidates attempt to outwit each other through the medium of verse in Bad Lip Reading’s hilarious new video.

To activate this feature, press the "CC" button.

Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton appears to recite surreal pieces such as “Because Zombies” and “Stealthily Bobby” in the spoof slam, which uses footage from the second debate.

Her GOP rival, Donald Trump, meanwhile, goes slightly darker with his telling of the sinister “Mike the Merry Cricket” and “My Garden.”

“It was not good in my garden that year, it was not good in my garden,” he appears to say at one point. Trump later adds, “I am not brave, I am a merchant.”

Nope. Us neither.

'Bad Lip Reading' Of The Trump/Clinton Debate

Debate Night! - Donald and Hillary go head to head in classic games such as "Time to Act!", "Five Favorites", and "I Can Do This!"

If you didn’t think last month’s first presidential debate produced enough outrageous statements, then you’re in luck, because Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton, and moderator Lester Holt have officially received the Bad Lip Reading treatment.

To activate this feature, press the "CC" button.

While dubbing is used to make it look like the candidates are saying ridiculous things, it’s often hard to discern whether some of the statements actually were made, such as when Trump proclaims to Clinton, “I don’t like how you look, I don’t like your name, I don’t like your anything.”

The short video has Holt playing a few rapid-fire games with the political rivals, including “Five Favorites,” where Trump shares his love of William Shatner, raw chicken, and lice.

Adding in fake audio wasn’t the only way to have fun with the debate; the candidates’ physical mannerisms made for a few laughs as well. Holt, who ended things early to get to a dentist appointment, asked Clinton to act as if her face muscles had frozen in the middle of laughing, which perfectly matched up with the video.

Watch the latest edition of Bad Lip Reading and the many laughs that come with it above.

What ‘Deaf’ Means To Me - Amanda McDonough

What ‘Deaf’ means to me with Amanda McDonough.

Deaf activist, actress and Youtuber Amanda McDonough discussion and conversation questions about "What "Deaf" Means to Me" she wanted to talk about something she have been thinking a lot about recently and that is the word "DEAF." Now she grew up in hearing culture in the United States.

To activate this feature, press the "CC" button.

I grew up with hearing family, hearing friends, going to a mainstream school and I didn't have access to signing. I didn't have access to Deaf people and... So, growing up for me that word "DEAF" scared me, because for me, before, that meant that I was going to lose my hearing. That meant that I was going to lose access to oral communication. That meant I might lose my family and my friends. That was scary for me. It was really scary. And it wasn't until after I became physically Deaf that I started searching for people like me and I started searching for a better way to communicate. And I found that in Deaf Culture, in sign language, in the Deaf community.

Now that i am a proud Deaf woman that word death means something so different to me. So, I wanted to share with you what word "DEAF" means to me now.

Now the word "DEAF" means strength. It means having the strength to accept yourself for who you really are. It also means support; having the support of the Deaf community. Having people around me that understand what i go through every single day, all of my struggles. They understand me, they really understand. It also means communication, because now I have this beautiful language that I can always understand I don't have have to struggle with and I have access to communication through new technology like VoIP and oh captioned phones. Different things that help me communicate better. It also, lastly, means intelligence. Why? Because deaf people; we have to be able to think creatively. We have to be able to think outside the box so that we can create new solutions to problems that we have, that don't depend on hearing, and that takes intelligence. So, this is what my new meaning of the word "DEAF" is.

What does "DEAF" mean to you?

Booming Cochlear Implants in Indiana State

Deaf News: As more Deaf students use cochlear implants, Indiana schools work to adapt due to gaining popularity.

INDIANAPOLIS, IN -- Public schools in Indiana serve about 2,400 students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. Of those students a growing number now use cochlear implants, small medical devices that stimulate nerves in the inner ear and give a sense of hearing.

As technology develops, and cochlear implants become more common, many public schools are still working to catch up.

“I like to think that it’s not malicious, it’s just that most of these smaller districts don’t have the training and the knowledge to really be able to understand what these kids need,” says Ellyn McCall, family liaison at hearing loss advocacy group Hear Indiana.

As the number of students with cochlear implants grow, advocates like McCall say there’s often a disconnect between services schools offer and services these students need.

Brandy Hauser, of Spencer, IN, had never been more excited. She was a brand new mom. Like all Indiana parents since 1999, she watched as doctors took her newborn daughter Grace for a hearing screening.

Then a nurse came back.

“She [gave] me a little card and said that your daughter didn’t pass the infant hearing screening test,” Hasuer says.

Grace has mondini dysplasia, an inner ear malformation that results in profound deafness.

“After that it was like a whirlwind of ‘What do we do?,’” Hauser says.

For communication, the options can come from two schools of thought.

There’s the well-known route: use sign language. Or the newer option gaining popularity: cochlear implants and spoken language.

Hauser chose the second. At 18 months, Grace had an implant surgically attached to her skull.

“She was sitting in her little car seat stroller. We had her sitting up in there, and they turned her on. It was just like the shine of a Christmas light in her face when she, you know, clapped and she looked,” Hauser says. “It was the first time that I knew, ok, she looked. Ok, we’ve got this.”

But when Grace got to school, things became complicated. Hearing with cochlear implants is not traditional hearing. It takes time to ‘learn to hear.’

“When sentence writing started coming around, and the structure of sentences.. [It] was very hard for her to make a sentence that would be correct,” Hauser says.

Hauser says that’s largely because services from the school district weren’t geared for Deaf kids who, through technology, were also learning to hear and speak.

Instead, the focus was American Sign Language, where grammar is different.

Students like Grace are already outliers in the state. She’s one of nine Deaf or Hard of Hearing students in the Spencer-Ownens Community Schools district of 2,600 students. That’s one-third of one percent of the entire student body.

That’s typical for most Indiana school districts. Public districts, outside of the Indiana School for the Deaf, have eight deaf or hard of hearing students, on average.

Melissa Lancaster heads the organization that provides special education for Grace’s school district, Spencer-Owens Community schools.

“We look at what they’re needing and what services can we provide to meet that,” Lancaster says. “The only challenge is making sure that we’re up to speed on the cochlear implant and what’s needed with that.”

Challenges - and debates - around educating students who are Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing are nothing new to Indiana. Indiana is home to the Indiana School for the Deaf - an institution that specializes in giving students who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing an American Sign Language and English bilingual education.

As technology developed, lawmakers said the ISD was not giving students enough experience in a newly available hearing culture. School officials pushed back, but the state diverted funding from the school to create the Indiana Center for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Education.

It’s goal? Provide information regarding all communication opportunities to families, from American Sign Language to spoken language.

Deaf or Hard of Hearing students bring their districts about $8,000 each in extra state funding, but advocates say that amount doesn’t necessary cover expensive services that help students with cochlear implants, like therapy, closed-captioning and teacher microphone systems.

“That has to cover lot’s of things,” says Naomi Horton, executive director of hearing loss advocacy group Hear Indiana. “It’s not enough money in most cases to cover the special education costs.”

But there’s a catch. Under federal law, school districts are obligated to provide all students with a free and adequate education. In other words, they can’t say a necessary special education accommodation is beyond their budget. And she says, that can put cash-strapped schools in a tricky position.

Ellyn McCall, the family liason at Hear Indiana, says it makes a big difference when services are tailored for children with cochlear implants. She says it has made a big difference for her son Seth.

Today, Seth is 8 years old. He’s in a traditional classroom, and says he learns things like the definition of “busybody.”

“‘Busybody’ is when you’re being nosy and you’re listening to someone else’s conversation,” Seth says.

Because there is evidence that early services can mean big results for students like Seth in the long run, some parents don’t want to wait for their districts to provide them.

Kendra Bowden’s son Wyatt has cochlear implants. On his third birthday, Bowden says he still had the language skills of a child half his age.

Bowden lives in Terre Haute, but she decided to send Wyatt to St. Joseph Institute for the Deaf, a private school that specializes in educating children with cochlear implants. It’s in Indianapolis. An hour and a half away.

“We didn’t want to actually send him because it’s far for us, it’s far for him it’s hard on him it’s hard on us, he’s our baby he’s never even been to daycare,” Bowden said. “But that school is only there for preschool.”

It’s almost seven hours total of driving there and back, to and from school each day. But Bowden hopes it will be worth it after preschool.

“I think it’s gonna be worth it in the long run,” Bowden said. “It’s not forever, it’s maybe a couple of years.”

Studies show getting children with cochlear implants specialized services early can be worth if for the state financially, too. The state can save over $200,000 per student that would otherwise go to state services, like special education and auditory rehabilitation.

'Bad Lip Reading' Does The Democratic National Convention

A moving look back at the 2016 Democratic National Convention from A Bad Lip Reading.

Bad Lip Reading released a video voiceover on YouTube of the Democratic National Convention, and the comedy sketch has gone viral.

Replacing the speeches of Democratic leaders with words that match their mouth movements, Bad Lip Reading's video gives new lines to everyone from Democratic Presidential Nominee Hillary Clinton to Sen. Bernie Sanders.

To activate this feature, press the "CC" button.

"Oh, wow, uh, this really sucks," Chelsea Clinton's voiceover says. "Like, all you people who are here tonight. Shout out to my crew; all my girlies."

Hilary Clinton gets a voiceover to say, "Two cheers for all the tears of my manservants. They sort of can smile and always get me the sugar packet. They’re like property of mine."

The montage also features voiceovers for President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, with the first lady appearing to say "We ladies know how a player is. But when they go 'hello' we go 'hey.'"

President Obama is made to appear to be saying "I want to list a few words that sound like real words but aren't real. Hondish. Coddlesip. Eubillican. Respeciment. Complectogram. These words, ought to mean something. That sounds nasty."

Bad Lip Reading Take On 'High School Musical'

For the 10th Anniversary of 'High School Musical', Bad Lip Reading and Disney XD team up for a new spin on the teen classic.

The geniuses over at Bad Lip Reading have tackled everyone from the Kardashians to the NFL to the Republican presidential debate and now, they’re ready for the big leagues. They’re making the leap from the web to the television screen thanks to Disney XDD, who they’ve teamed up with for a very special version of High School Musical.

The teaser video is out now and it’s glorious but the full episode of the tragically awful, hilarious lip reading is getting a special airing on Disney XD next Monday.

To activate this feature, press the "CC" button.

To make a splash with their primetime debut the Bad Lip Reading crew didn’t just re-consider the teen classic’s dialogue, but tackled their songs, too. In this version, when Zac Efron‘s “Chorky” croons the classic love song “Start of Something New” to Vanessa Hudgen’s “Lumpkinella,” things turn out quite differently. Luckily their love story continues, thanks to their shared love of nursery rhymes unless Lumpkinella turns out to be a horrible evil psycho, of course. But if she did, we hope Bad Lip Reading would voice-over the entire thing.

'Bad Lip Reading' RNC Ted Cruz Talks Trump

Ted Cruz speaks plainly about Donald Trump, and the crowd at the Republican National Convention turns on him.

'Bad Lip Reading' is back at it again, this time making the Republican National Convention even more ridiculous than it already was.

The comedy YouTube channel dubbed over Senator Ted Cruz’s speech from the convention. You know the one: It’s that speech during which Republicans booed the senator off the stage because he failed to endorse Donald Trump.

While that speech was already pretty entertaining, the good people of “Bad Lip Reading” made it even better.

It’s not the first time the YouTube channel has taken on the Texas Senator. He got his debut during The Republican Debate.

Ted’s weird, high-pitched, George McFly voice is back again for this video, and it’s probably the funniest thing I’ve ever heard.

“Let’s talk a little bit about Mr. Trump,” the “Bad Lip Reading” Ted Cruz begins his speech. “I dined with him. He put meth on my fork once.”

Just like during the real Ted Cruz’s speech, the audience here eventually begins to boo. Unlike the real Ted Cruz, however, this one starts to call people out for disrespecting him.

He says, Yeah, I’m talking to you, blondie. Don’t ever look straight at me.

I’m just saying: Maybe if Ted had gone with this speech instead, he would’ve been a little more popular at the convention. SOURCE.

The most memorable 'Bad Lip Reading' Ted Cruz ad of 2016 and watching it will be the funniest three minutes of video.

'Bad Lip Reading' Takes On Bernie And Hillary

Bad Lip Reading hilariously takes on the latest Democratic debate with Bernie and Hillary.

Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton’s most “shouty” debate yet last week, it would be remiss if internet staple Bad Lip Reading didn’t take a crack at it. This time they spiced things up by bringing in a segment called “Time to Act,” in which Senator Sanders mimes out everything from “you just ran over your neighbor’s dog” and “prostate exam” to “your hand is a baby bird and your fingers are the beak.”

Meanwhile Hillary tries to tell a story about a hitchhiker from New York who she met in Hawaii years ago, but Bernie quickly interjects to sing about juggling balls in bed. While I can’t speak for the actual debate, I think it’s pretty obvious that Sanders is the clear winner here. SOURCE

Mainstream School Lacks Communication Access

According to the researchers, the cascading impact of hearing loss on access to school communication.

Fragmented Hearing, Effort, Listening, Comprehension, Fatigue and Pace of Learning. Hearing Loss is invisible. Someone observing a student with hearing loss may believe that he or she has an attention problem or a learning disability as hearing loss can also impact perceiving, language processing, processing speed, memory and attention. Unlike ADHD or LD, learning issues caused by hearing loss are not due to a disorder (an issue with brain processes). Instead the learning issues are secondary to delays because the child has incomplete access to speech occurring around him or her, especially soft speech or completely understanding someone talking from a distance further than 3-6 feet.

Fragmented Hearing: Our educational system is based on the assumption that students in the classroom will perceive, and therefore understand, all of what the teacher is saying. When much information received in school is fragmented because of hearing loss, learning consequences are likely. Even with the latest hearing technology, normal hearing ability is not restored by hearing devices. Even aided thresholds of 20 dB HL will cause soft speech, high pitch speech sounds and unemphasized brief words to be undetected or too quiet to process.

It is not unusual for children with hearing loss to have a 20% ‘listening gap’ as compared to class peers who may miss only 5% of information 1. The image shows a story about Fran the frog who has a sore throat. As you can see, comprehending the meaning of the story is impacted when 20% of the information missing. Even if a child is able to perform well in a quiet setting using hearing devices, a classroom setting is typically noisy, with fast-paced peer-to-peer conversations and teachers that move about the classroom, causing significant listening challenges. These conditions typically result in barriers to access.

Increased Effort: Effort refers to the exertion of physical or mental power. Listening effort refers to the attention necessary to understand speech. Ease of listening is the perceive difficulty of the listening situation by the listener. Even low noise in the environment will interact with the fragmented hearing to interfere with their speech understanding. Children with hearing loss work harder than their peers to listen leaving fewer cognitive resources to understand speech in the classroom as compared to class peers.

CSS Movies presents "Alone In A Hearing World" shows true to life scenarios of a young Deaf boy growing up in a hearing world. With family members who can't communicate and continuous misunderstandings by his teachers and coaches, he is forced to live in a world of isolation. However, when he pleas for his Mothers understanding and falls short, he ends up in the only place he seems to find acceptance.

It has been assumed that speechreading will help children to compensate for what is missed due to fragmented hearing. Research results make it clear that speechreading (lipreading) help children to compensate for what was missed...read more: http://successforkidswithhearingloss.com/pdf.
