Several people have been injured in violence over the rumours in UP over the past week, forcing the state police to warn the public that it has decided to invoke the stringent National Security Act against rumour-mongers.

The DCP said a case has been registered at the Harsh Vihar police station under Indian Penal Code sections for voluntarily causing hurt and wrongful restraint.

"We have arrested two persons, Deepak (27) and B Shakuntala (52), residents of Mandoli," he said. He urged people not to pay heed to rumours of child abduction.

The woman's family alleged that her in-laws had banished her from their Faridabad home on August 18 and said she was missing since then.

"Somehow the woman reached Harsh Vihar and was staying on a footpath. Locals used to give her food but on August 27, they attacked her over allegations of child lifting," a police officer said.

The family approached the Delhi Police after seeing a video of the incident.

Dems Spurn Deaf Candidate Over Allegations

Kansas House candidate loses support from Democrats after multiple women accuse him of abuse.

OLATHE, Kansas -- Chris Haulmark, who could be the first Deaf state legislator in Kansas, lost the support of Democrats after multiple women accused him of emotional abuse. He's admitted to having "done some things" he isn't "proud of."

To activate this feature, press the "CC" button.

After multiple women have come forward with allegations of emotional and mental abuse, Kansas Democrats have pulled their support from a state House candidate poised to make history.

Chis Haulmark - running for a state House seat in Kansas’ 15th congressional district – would reportedly be the first Deaf lawmaker at either a local or national level if elected. But he’s been publicly accused by multiple women, including former girlfriends and roommates, of emotional abuse and manipulative behavior.

Tonia Jimmerson, who said she previously dated Haulmark, claimed in a Facebook video he threatened to run her over with a car, burn down a camping tent with her young daughter inside and leave her and her children in a national park in Montana. She also alleged he had threatened her with a gun during the relationship.

“Time and time again, you lied to us. You manipulated us. You made us feel low about ourselves,” she said in a separate Facebook post. “You threatened us. You threatened our children. You took advantage of our kind and fragile hearts for your own benefit.”

Haulmark told The Kansas City Star he never threatened Jimmerson with a firearm, and said some allegations stemmed from Jimmerson taking his remarks during arguments out of context.

Candy Villesca, a former roommate of Haulmark's, also claimed he was emotionally abusive and manipulative years ago, The Star reported. Villesca alleged he “brainwashed” her into thinking she had a mental illness.

“Chris should not be in the kind of role he’s running for, with those types of habits of hurting women,” she said.

Haulmark lived in the home of Jennifer Carlino from April 2017 to January 2018, The Star reports. Carlino alleged he “threatened [her] into silence” during that time.

“He even confessed to me that he is very capable of taking revenge on people if he didn’t get what he wanted,” Carlino said in a Facebook video, according to The Star.

“I will admit that I haven’t always been the best boyfriend, husband, co-worker or friend,” Haulmark said in a Facebook post, adding that he’s sought therapy for several years to work on his relationships.

Haulmark denies over allegations as well as he puts allegations to rest and focuses back on winning the election.

“With that said, I am far from perfect. I’ve made mistakes, I’ve said things I regret, I’ve done some things that I’m not proud of … Some might say that would disqualify me from running for office,” he continued. “I say it makes me a better representative to those in my district.”

In a separate Facebook post, Haulmark revealed he’s been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder and has sought treatment for the illness. He also said he's staying in the race because his Republican opponent, John Toplikar, “would be a detriment to our district.”

“I truly believe in making things better. I truly believe in change. I truly believe that my story can help change other stories,” he said.

According to The Star, Kansas House Democrats have since pulled their support for Haulmark, calling the accusations “deeply troubling.”

“This pattern of behavior disqualifies Haulmark from being a standard bearer for the Democratic Party,” the Democrats said in a statement.

Haulmark told the newspaper it’s “understandable” for the party to distance itself from him “given the political climate.”

Deaf Couple Dead In Apparent Murder-Suicide

Deaf News: Man, woman die in murder-suicide in Idaho shooting.

CALDWELL, Idaho -- Four children are without their parents following Monday’s domestic violence shooting, which was the second deadly case of domestic violence in Canyon County in the past nine weeks.

An investigation indicated that Ian S. Stone, 37, shot Jaclyn D. Zabel, 29, and then turned the gun on himself, according to a press release from Canyon County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Marv Dashiell.

“Investigators have determined the incident was a domestic violence situation which elevated to the most severe type of situation and resulted in the loss of life,” according to the sheriff’s release.

Zabel and Stone, both Deaf, and their four children practiced jiu-jitsu in northern Idaho at Bonners Ferry BJJ, according to Sam Brown, their coach and friend.

“The whole family was well liked up here and there is a lot of broken hearts,” he said. “We are all shocked and deeply saddened by what transpired on Monday.”

Zabel’s death was ruled a homicide, according to the Ada County Coroner’s Office. She was pronounced dead at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center around 7 a.m. Tuesday.

Zabel died later Tuesday night in a Boise hospital, according to the release.

The Ada County Coroner’s Office release stated both died of a gunshot wound to the head.

Stone’s last Facebook post, published 8:34 a.m. Monday, expressed turmoil over the relationship.

“Inside of me is broke,” read part of his post, just an hour before the shooting.

The relationship between Stone and Zabel has not been made clear by police.

Two months ago, Stone bid Zabel a happy anniversary on Facebook. “To my beautiful wife, Jacy Zabel,” his post read on March 28. “Want to say happy 9 years anniversary together. I love you so much with all my heart. We been through good time and bad time.”

First responders arrived at 19351 Wagner Road in Caldwell around 9:30 a.m. Monday. Children were removed from the house after the shooting, according to Dashiell. How many children were present and the names of their parents have not been released.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families involved in this terrible situation,” the sheriff’s office release states.

Stone was previously convicted of misdemeanor domestic battery in 2007 after pleading guilty to the charge in Bonner County, according to the Idaho online courts repository. He participated in a diversion program for the charge, according to the repository. In 2015, he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor disturbing the peace and destruction of a telecommunication line in Bonner County.

A Meal Train has been set up to support the Zabel family. People can donate money or provide meals.

Brown said he plans to work with the jiu-jistu members to see how else they can help the children and family members impacted by their deaths.

Two months and one day earlier from Monday’s shooting, Kymberlee Larsen, a 22-year-old mother, was killed in a domestic violence stabbing in Nampa. According to the sheriff’s office, Evan C. Bashir, 29, broke into a Nampa house and stabbed Larsen and Larsen’s sister and mother. Her sister, Chelsea Larsen, 27, and her mother, Julianna Flowers, 57, recovered from their injuries.

Bashir was shot and killed by one of two responding Nampa Police officers.

Bashir and Larsen were in a romantic relationship that had been deteriorating for some time, Canyon County Sheriff Keiran Donahue said in a press conference in March.

This month, U.S. Sen. Mike Crapo, R-Idaho, wrote an opinion piece urging the reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act.

The Act, which was signed into law in 1994, has been reauthorized three times since. It has helped Idaho nonprofits and agencies provide life-saving services to domestic violence, dating violence and sexual assault victims.

The Idaho Coalition Against Sexual and Domestic Violence reported that in 2016 there were 6,067 incidents of intimate partner violence and 2,063 incidents of sexual assault reported to law enforcement agencies in Idaho, according to Crapo.

What Is Life Like For Women Under Sharia Law

Short Documentary Film "The Violent Oppression of Women in Islam" What is life like for Women living under Sharia Law? Historical of Sharia Law within violence against Women in Middle East and North Africa.

Warning: Some viewers may find this video distressing. This video contains violence and graphic content may disturbing. "The Violent Oppression of Women in Islam" might contain content that is not suitable for all ages. The features images that may shock or sensitive audiences.

This post is purpose for education and awareness of violent against women. It is an utter disgrace that more people the world over - including and especially human rights and women's organizations are not speaking out loudly against the hideous, violent treatment of women that including Deaf and Hard of Hearing within Islam as well.

This abuse has been going on for centuries, and little has changed over the past decades since the non-Muslim world began to take notice of Islam. In fact, Muslim apologists including non-Muslim defenders are very vocal in denying that women are abused and oppressed within Islam, an assertion that is patently false and mendacious.

To activate this feature, press the "CC" button.

All of the apologies and apologetics in the world will not make these facts of violence against women go away, and day in and day out women and girls are treated abysmally in the Muslim world, simply because of their female gender and because the wanton abuse of women is endorsed by the Islamic holy book, the Quran/Koran, as well as various commentaries thereon, such as the Hadiths, to the evident exultation of misogynists worldwide.

The silence of the non-Muslim world in not criticizing Islam and its proponents especially in regard to the vicious, widespread and ongoing oppression and abuse of women and girls is deafening - and shameful.

Please read the booklet linked hereto by Robert Spencer and Phyllis Chesler, and pass it along to all those who love life and justice. We need many more voices like these hard-working individuals who are risking their necks to expose the harsh realities behind Islam.

The bottom line is that millions of women and girls are suffering every day within Islam, and not doing anything about constitutes a tacit endorsement of such suffering.

The booklet that you are about to read details some of the principal ways in which women suffer inthe Islamic world - often with religious and cultural sanction. Many of these crimes against women,

such as wife-beating, are ordained by the Qur'an itself; others, such as female genital mutilation and honor killing, are praised by Islamic clerics and hallowed by Islamic culture. That feminists in the West remain silent about this deeply ingrained and institutionalized mistreatment of women, and even ally with groups that have devoted themselves to the spread of Islamic law that justifies this mistreatment, is one of the unconscionable scandals of our time.

This article is a segment of a series being run as part of our nation-wide campus effort, Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week, which will be held on 200 university and college campuses on October 22-26. Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week is a national effort to focus on all the victims of Islamo-Fascist Jihad - as well as to counter the lies of the academic Left, which seeks to deny the evil, and even the very existence, of our enemy in this terror war. In this way, Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week hopes to educate American students and to enable them to rally to defend their country.

In terms of the this booklet of our subject today, its cover is a still photograph that epitomizes Islamic oppression of women, and it has come to also epitomize the Western feminist non-response to it. The picture comes from a Dutch film called De Steen (The Stone), directed by Mahnaz Tamizi, and features the actress Smadar Monsinos. The Stone dramatizes the barbaric treatment of women in Islamic countries. It accurately depicts the reality of Islamic Sharia law regarding adultery: when a couple is caught in adultery, the man is jailed while the woman is stoned to death.

It is a telling indication of the intellectual and moral bankruptcy of the Left that it has fastened upon our use of this picture to try to discredit Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week, since the photo does not depict an actual event - as if women weren't being stoned to death under Sharia law in Iran and some other Muslim countries today. In reality, eight women are currently in prison in Iran awaiting death by stoning for the crime of adultery. A mother was sentenced to be stoned to death in Iran for adultery just last week. It is typical of the Left to try to cast opprobrium not upon those responsible for these harsh realities, but upon us who are trying to draw attention to them in the name of human rights.

It may have seemed inconceivable that feminists and their allies would defend those who bury women in the earth and kill them by throwing large stones at them, but that is the ultimate thrust of the Left's outcry against our use of this picture and against Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week in general. Such are the ironies of our troubled age.

In this booklet are realities that should be of paramount concern not just for feminists in the West and their allies on the Left, but of all those who are concerned with the universality of human rights and the dignity of every human being.

Final note from Acharya: I don't usually engage in the politics of "right v. left," but I have to say that, in the case of Islam, the lefty liberals have driven me and many others straight into the Neocon camp. For those who are bothered by the "staged stoning" of the pic above, please see this disturbing video of a real stoning - albeit of men, who likewise suffer horribly under the sadistic fascism called Islam.

The rest of the images here are unfortunately quite real, including the blood pool from a victim of female genital mutilation, the hanging of an Iranian woman from a crane, and the Iranian victim of a severe beating because she was not properly covered up to post here some of the worst images, including that of the genital area of a victim of female genital mutilation.

This sounds familiar within Moses laws and Jehovah's Witnesses holy book, the Quran/Koran, as well as various thereon. It is so sadistic quotes Islamic bible, they really are fearful for the future of humanity when Muslim Brotherhood allow such old barbaric practices to continue. This manslaughter must be stopped and for crimes of violence against women.

The Violent Oppression of Women By Robert Spencer and Phyllis Chesler from Front Page Magazine Friday, October 05, 2007.

Deaf Woman Found Burned On The Street

Deaf News: Police: Woman found burned on Dale Street in Rochester.

ROCHESTER, NY -- Rochester Police say that a woman was found burned on Dale Street on Sunday, and the incident is being investigated as a suicide attempt.

News10NBC does not normally report on suicides, but many people in the area had questions about what happened on Sunday in broad daylight.

Officers say they were called to a home on Dale Street around, where they found a woman on fire in a field located on a empty lot of the street.

The woman, reportedly somewhere between 40 and 50 years of age, was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital, where she is in guarded condition.

Tony Alonzo Thompson- a neighbor of the woman- was among those who found her. He was walking around the neighborhood when he found her, and immediately called 911.

"I'm trying to tell her, 'ma'am, it's gonna be alright.' I'm telling her it's gonna be alright. It's going to be alright.... but I'm crying because I knew her."

"She's looking right at," he said, "She's Deaf... and she pointed. She's naked, her pants are down to her ankles... and she was smoking."

Holly Mortensen, who lives across from the field where the woman was found, is still in shock over what happened.

"That's a little too close to home, that's my first reaction."

Mortensen was awakened by the police and firefighters that had arrived in the neighborhood, and when she looked outside, she saw one of her neighbors on fire.

"She wasn't moving, she was just laying there at the middle of the field," she recalls, "The EMTs put a respirator on her, or a resuscitator on her."

Fire and police have confirmed the event is now being investigated as a suicide attempt and that there is no danger to the public. Because of the sensitivity of the situation, News10NBC will not be releasing the name of the woman.

Deaf Women More Likely to be a Victim of Abuse

Deaf individuals are more likely to experience domestic violence than hearing individuals in the United States.

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Newsnet5: Deaf individuals are one and a half times more likely to be victims of relationship violence than hearing individuals, according to research out of the Rochester Institute of Technology.

"He would grab me, push me down, kept pushing me down, hitting me," said Dawn Marie Fucile, a Cleveland resident who is Deaf. She spoke through an interpreter.

Fucile recalls her three-year abusive relationship which she says happened in Parma two decades ago.

"He got a hold of me and threw me physically, coffee table," she said of her ex-boyfriend who is also Deaf. "I missed it by just an inch."

Fucile, who is 48 years old, said she finally mustered up the strength to call the police. Twice, officers came to her house. Twice, they left without arresting the man.

"Both of the officers that were there, I could understand them, but they were being like 'oh poor you. You can't communicate," she added.

Fucile said the lack of communication services and education among police at that time contributed to a lack of help.

"We know that there are more victims that are Deaf and Hard of Hearing that don't have access to information or services, and that's a big problem," said Linda Johanek, CEO of the Domestic Violence & Child Advocacy Center in Cleveland.

Johanek, with help from the Cleveland Hearing and Speech Center and Cleveland Police, are trying to reverse the problem, which Johanek and Fucile said is only exacerbated by the fact that the Deaf community is tight-knit. For a member, it is difficult to break away, no matter the circumstance.

Through a federal grant, the domestic violence center, its shelter and all five police districts have iPads equipped with video remote interpreters. Officers can take the iPads with them on calls.

Fucile said the technology is a big step in the right direction.

"Do not be afraid to ask for help," she added. "I got help because I decided to move on."

Parma police said they now use a text messaging service to communicate with Deaf Individuals. For in-depth interviews, Parma and Cleveland police said they bring in live interpreters.

Fucile said her ex-boyfriend was eventually charged and convicted of domestic violence.

METRAC Campaign Aims Toronto Deaf Women

The METRAC campaign and program is aimed at making justice more accessible to Deaf women in family breakup situations.

TORONTO, Ontario -- MetroNews: A new campaign in Toronto aims to help Deaf women facing family breakdowns navigate the legal system.

To activate this feature, press the "CC" button.

Through its Family Law Education for Women program, METRAC has partnered with Springtide Resources and members of the Deaf community to create two videos being launched Thursday.

The videos were produced in American Sign Language, with closed captioning, and contain detailed information about child custody rights and information about support services for survivors of domestic assault.

METRAC has for years provided sign language services for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing women through direct translation, but feedback from the Deaf community showed it “wasn’t very helpful,” said METRAC’s legal director Tamar Witelson.

“This is about increasing access to justice. There’s a lot of concerns when women are separating from their partners, and it’s even harder for Deaf women,” she said, noting that having a multimedia element in the resources will go a long way.

The challenges facing Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing women during family separation battles can stretch beyond just access to justice. If a family is breaking up due to intimate abuse in relationships, for example, the woman is less likely to even seek legal help because of stigma around such cases, Witelson said.

“We still have many women in this situation who don’t even understand what their legal rights are,” she said. “Many even end up going in court without a lawyer to represent them.”

According to Canadian Hearing Society, there are over 530,000 people in Ontario who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. That’s almost 5 per cent of the population.

It’s Why Deaf People Don’t Report To Police

When it comes to domestic abuse and sexual assault reporting, Deaf women are underserved by police in the United States.

NEW YORK CITY -- International Business Times: The abuse started with a few insults. When Wendy, a Deaf woman, met her college boyfriend, he was popular and attractive, so she put up with the harsh way he spoke to her. Then he gave her a black eye.

“I thought it was normal, and that that was love; that it was just a part of when you care about somebody,” Wendy, 38, who didn’t want to be identified by her real name because she has yet to go public with her story, said through a sign language interpreter. “Then the insults became a little bit physical, and then a cycle began.”

The cycle included her boyfriend holding her hostage in locked rooms after arguments, once almost forcing her to go to the bathroom in a bucket because she couldn’t leave. He beat her up on her 27th birthday, but she didn’t report it at least partly out of fear no one would believe her. She tells the story of a fellow Deaf friend who was abused by a significant other, and when police came to investigate, they didn’t believe the Deaf friend was abused.

“It’s why Deaf people don’t report to police,” Wendy, a Deaf community advocate in the central New York area, said. “It’s always ‘they won’t believe me.’ ”

Deaf women experience sexual and domestic abuse at much higher rates than women who hear, but are unlikely to report it. A new initiative announced last week from the Vera Institute of Justice, a New York City-based nonprofit, and the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office for Victims of Crime aims to change that by training police officers to facilitate communication with Deaf victims, such as teaching them how to find legitimate sign language interpreters. Activists say many law enforcement officials don’t know the best way to communicate with Deaf victims, discouraging the victims from reporting abuse.

“Now, they don’t have equal access to get the help they need,” Erin Esposito, a Deaf woman and executive director of the Rochester, New York-based Advocacy Services for Abused Deaf Victims, said of Deaf victims. “The goal is to create an atmosphere where Deaf people can feel confident to go into a police station and get help.”

The Translating Justice Initiative is a three-year program, funded with a $1 million grant from the U.S. Justice Department that will go toward virtual and in-person training sessions of police officers, prosecutors and court administrators to help them better communicate with the Deaf, as well as the hard of hearing and those with limited English proficiency. The training is intended to enable police agencies to look at their policies regarding Deaf victims, revamp them to better facilitate communication and show officers how to better use resources already out there to help the Deaf, said Susan Shah, one of the co-leaders of the initiative.

Officers will be instructed in telephonic interpretation services, finding interpreters in the community and ways to avoid outdated technology, Shah said. Another major part of the training is teaching police to reach out to the Deaf community so Deaf victims of domestic and sexual abuse can feel more comfortable coming forward.

There is no cookie-cutter training for every police agency as every one has different levels of how well they interact with Deaf people, Esposito said. While there have been localized efforts to fund programs for Deaf victims, this is one of the only national initiatives providing this type of training, activists said.

No one event spawned the project, which has been in development with the Justice Department and other agencies, such as Advocacy Services for Abused Deaf Victims and the National Center for Victims of Crime. The Office for Victims of Crime said in a statement that inroads had been made in recent years to serve victims who have disabilities or limited English proficiency, and that the program came about to bring together local efforts to help Deaf victims.... AUSTIN, TX -- Austin police are looking for four teenagers, three males and one female, who they say followed and punched a Deaf woman, and stole her purse in North Austin, Texas.

Police said the woman was walking on Redlands Street in the Brentwood neighborhood at around 1:20 p.m. Monday when she noticed a Hispanic teen wearing a bandana over his face following her. She told police she kept an eye on the teen because of his covered face.

The teen stopped to talk to a car and the victim lost sight of him. Police said shortly afterward, the same teen and three others in a tan four-door sedan cut off the victim.

"At that time, the same suspect displayed a knife. Then she was struck and punched to the ground, she fell to the ground and the Hispanic female stole her purse," said Austin Police Robbery Sgt. Will White.

White said the teens took off in the same car. That's when Joanna Fried heard banging on her door.

"She was banging on my door and pushing to get in which was scary," Fried said. "Frantic, like really really crying. There was blood on her hands and her face was swollen, and she realized she was scratched up on her leg. It was really hard to understand what she was saying."

Fried said she then called 911 and kept the victim at her house until EMS and police arrived. Fried said she called the victim's ex-husband and explained what happened.

Russell West, director of support operations at the Texas School for the Deaf, said anytime a member of the Deaf community is the victim of a crime, they often don't know their rights. West said Deaf victims need to ask for interpreters...

The Sexual Abuse of Deaf Women in Philippines

The sexual abuse of Deaf women: a human rights scandal in the provinces of Philippines.

MANILA, Philippines -- According to the former Philippine Deaf Resource Center (PDRC), one out of every three Deaf women in the Philippines is sexually harassed or raped. Half of the cases happen in the victim’s own home, with neighbors and even family members being the most common perpetrators. Despite the general decrease in rape cases throughout the country, rape remains the most widespread crime against Deaf women.

Imagine living in a home that is also, strangely, a foreign country, where you can neither fully understand what is going on, let alone be understood. Now imagine your life was like that 24 hours a day every single day. This is the plight of women like Anica and Diane, two Deaf women in their 20s, who like many other Deaf women have been sexually abused.

Anica, born Deaf, is a petite woman with a bubbly disposition. But behind the sunny demeanor lies a deep scar. During her teenage years, she was sexually molested by an uncle. The case remains unreported because she is too afraid to file a report.

Living in the same compound as her uncle, she harbors a terrible fear not only of family retaliation but also of being misunderstood by the police, given a lack of trustworthy interpreters. She has little motivation to push through with her case.

Many abused Deaf women share Anica’s plight. Desperate, they feel there is nowhere to turn for help. Most are hesitant to confide in family members because of long-standing communication barriers.

Diane, both taciturn and mercurial, is another survivor. Linguistically isolated since early childhood, she can only communicate through gestures and drawings. Her chronicle is heart wrenching: she was trafficked from her rural hometown to a large city, where she was forced to work in the sex trade, from which after several harrowing experiences she finally escaped.

Then she went through what the system had to offer: Diane was shuffled from one government agency to another; lived in a shelter for women and children; was put into foster care for one and half years before her family was found and she was eventually returned home.

Tragically, these are not anomalies. Indeed, the numbers in this context are genuinely disturbing: according to the former Philippine Deaf Resource Center (PDRC), one out of every three Deaf women in the Philippines is sexually harassed or raped. Half of the cases happen in the victim’s own home, with neighbors and even family members being the most common perpetrators. Despite the general decrease in rape cases throughout the country, rape remains the most widespread crime against Deaf women.

To press charges against her traffickers, Diane would have needed an accredited interpreter to give her testimony (otherwise, the authorities might deem it hearsay), but she was not provided with one. Indeed, throughout her entire stay at the shelter, she had no access to any interpreters at all.

Diane also appears to be suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, but has never been diagnosed or treated because her deafness makes communication a constant challenge.

In a 2012 report by the PDRC, it was noted that a lack of awareness and sensitivity in dealing with disabled persons continuously bogs down our legal and judicial systems. For example, the inappropriateness of assigning male interpreters for female victims of rape and sexual violence may cause further trauma...

Gallaudet Sees Rise In Reported Sexual Assaults

Statistics Report - What we know about the data on college sexual assaults, surprisedly Gallaudet University the 1st ranks in the U.S.

WASHINGTON, DC -- This blog focuses on the news out there on internet about Gallaudet University being No. 1 on the list with highest numbers of rape reports.

For Gallaudet, a college for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, the answer might simply be that campus officials speak sign language. As one Gallaudet offical told Emily Shire at The Daily Beast: “Our students are more likely to go somewhere on campus and report assault than go to a hospital because they have direct access to someone who speaks American Sign Language.”

Ricky Taylor also known as Ridor9th's vlog explains about the Judicial Affairs & Honor Codes in colleges & universities, plus Gallaudet's community at large. Plus, Taylor was sexually assaulted, too in 2002. Not many people knew of that as well - only 8 or 10 knew the truth.

The rise in reported sexual assaults on campus may be attributable to more awareness and, importantly, better procedures. College rankings are a pernicious business particularly so if you’re looking at sexual assault statistics.

Thanks to the 1990 Clery Act, colleges are required to report data on campus crime every year, including the number of incidents (or attempted incidents) of rape or sexual battery. But it’s pretty obvious that this number depends not only on the prevalence of sexual assault on campus, but also how diligently the college handles allegations of rape. As Nick Anderson reported recently, there are pending investigations at 89 colleges over how these schools dealt with reports of sexual violence.

A quick glance at the colleges with the most per-capita reports of sexual assault shows that they tend to be small, liberal arts colleges. (We’ve averaged the data for 2011 and 2012 to get a smoother picture.) It’s possible that Gallaudet, Grinnell, and Reed are the most sexually violent campuses in the nation, but it’s more plausible that these campuses have cultivated an environment where survivors feel more comfortable speaking out... The Violent Oppression of Women in Islam

Short Documentary Film "The Violent Oppression of Women in Islam" Historical of Sharia Law Within Violence Against Women.

It is an utter disgrace that more people the world over - including and especially human rights and women's organizations are not speaking out loudly against the hideous, violent treatment of women that including Deaf and Hard of Hearing within Islam.

Deaf Man Arrested After Standoff With SWAT

SWAT standoff with Deaf man in Grand Prairie ends peacefully.

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas -- A standoff with police ended peacefully Monday morning when a man upset about his girlfriend's arrest surrendered after threatening to kill himself.

According to Grand Prairie police spokesperson Lyle Gensler, police responded to a domestic situation at the Sugar Creek Apartments in the 900 block of Duncan Perry just after midnight Monday and found a man and a woman - both legally Deaf - involved in a dispute outside their apartment.

Police determined the woman was intoxicated, and she was arrested for public intoxication.

The arrest upset her boyfriend, who called 911 using Texas Relay, a service that provides telephone access for people with speech or hearing loss. He indicated he had a gun and told dispatchers he wanted his girlfriend to be released from custody or he'd kill himself.

"He has a computer in there that he can talk to via Skype and talk to a live person, and that person can relay to us what he's signing," an officer explained during the standoff. "And that's only if he wants to talk to us.

We've talked to him a couple of times, we've explained to him what's going on, but he still seems unhappy with the whole situation"... Read The Full Story.
