Do I Have COVID-19, The Flu Or A Cold?

WHO declares COVID-19 a global pandemic - What to do if you have symptoms and are worried you've been exposed to COVID-19.

GENEVA, Switzerland -- The World Health Organization (WHO) officials believe the rate of Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases is going to get worse before things start to get better. If you feel sick, when should you get tested?

Here are some basic facts about the virus, its symptoms, prevention, and what to do if you believe you are infected.

To activate this feature, press the "CC" button.

What are the symptoms?

Unfortunately, the initial symptoms of COVID-19 are very similar to the seasonal flu and even the common cold, so you may not know whether you are infected with Coronavirus - COVID-19.

The symptoms can include:
- Fever.
- Cough.
- Difficulty breathing.
- Pneumonia in both lungs (which would be seen on a chest X-ray).

Not everyone who is infected with COVID-19 has symptoms, and some people will only exhibit very minor symptoms.

"About 80 per cent of people will not get really sick from this," Dr. Samir Gupta, a respirologist, told CBC News.

The only way to confirm COVID-19 is with a lab test. Symptoms may appear as soon as two days after exposure or as long as 14 days after exposure.

The flu vaccine will not protect you against COVID-19.

What should you do if you have symptoms?

If you are under 50 years old and otherwise healthy, just stay home and take care of yourself. Definitely don't go to hospital, says Dr. Andrew Morris, an infectious disease specialist.

To activate this feature, press the "CC" button.

"The hospital's like the worst place for anyone, other than people who are really sick and who will need hospitalization. Just being infected with a viral infection is not a reason to go to hospital."

But it is a good reason if you are older, have a compromised immune system, or are experiencing shortness of breath.

The most important thing to do is to call ahead to your health care-provider when possible, whether you are going to see your primary care physician, a walk-in clinic, or an emergency department at a hospital. Upon arrival, you will be asked to wear a mask while waiting to prevent spreading your germs and you may be isolated... Read The Full Story on CBC News.

You Might Be Buying Trash On Amazon

Why your Amazon purchase could come from the garbage dumpsters.

NEW YORK CITY -- Wall Street Journal investigation finds Amazon.com selling actual “dumpster trash.” Some Amazon third-party sellers sell second-hand products as new on the site-some even claim to sell products they found while digging through garbage dumpsters. The Wall Street Journal set out to test their claims by setting up an Amazon storefront and gathering some trash.

To activate this feature, press the "CC" button.

Items you purchase on Amazon.com that you think are new might actually have been packaged by dumpster divers who scour trash bins to find food items they can repackage and sell on Amazon, a shocking Wall Street Journal investigation has found. The bombshell investigation reveals that Amazon.com is literally selling dumpster trash as “new” food and dietary supplements.

“Late one night several days before the store opened, reporters with flashlights and blue latex gloves visited Clifton, Clark and Paramus, N.J., scouring dumpsters behind outlets such as a Michaels craft store and a Trader Joe’s grocery,” reports the WSJ. “The bins were a humid mess of broken glass and smashed boxes, a stench of rot in the air. Several products were in original packaging, some soiled with coffee grounds, moldy blackberries or juice from a bag of chicken thighs.”

Among the trash, WSJ reporters found a jar of discarded lemon curd from Trader Joe’s. The Journal cleaned and packed the three items—bubble-wrapping and taping the curd jar—and mailed them to an Amazon warehouse in Pennsylvania in September and October. The Journal completed Amazon’s documentation requirements by specifying the items’ universal product codes, the numbers next to bar codes on most products. Amazon didn’t ask about the inventory’s origins or sell-by dates... Read The Full Story at Wall Street Journal.

Disturbing 'Momo Challenge' Hoax Spreads

Disturbing and creepy, the ‘Momo Challenge’ isn’t a viral danger to children online, but it sure is viral.

People across the world are spreading awareness about 'Momo Challenge'.

If you’re a parent of a young child, chances are that someone on Facebook has sent you an alarming post about the “Momo challenge,” a game illustrated by a disturbing photograph of a woman, in which participants are blackmailed into completing increasingly dangerous tasks.

Maybe that post says that Momo is the latest “trend.”

To activate this feature, press the "CC" button.

Momo was perfectly tuned to set off alarms in the mind of any parent: There’s something online that you don’t know about, and it’s about to kill or traumatize your child. Just one problem: There’s little evidence to confirm that the Momo challenge is real. Although multiple deaths are often attributed to the challenge in warnings about it, none has been confirmed.

The panic over Momo followed a familiar pattern established by other supposedly viral “challenges” - the condom challenge and Tide pod challenge, for example that caused a lot of hand-wringing but few, if any, documented injuries.

The viral spread of this kind of story may say less about the danger these challenges pose to young people and more about the fear that the Internet inspires in parents... Read More: Washington Post.

The Momo challenge is a Hoax:

But the online culture and financial rewards that made it seem feasible are scary.

Everyone worries about their kids.

My kid is two; from the moment he was born (and probably during the few months before), each time I heard about something bad happening to a child, I went into a panicky, sickened research mode, frantically searching for confirmation that the absolute worst had happened and could happen again.

Kidnappings, Monstrous Priests, Car Crashes, Obscure Diseases, Keisuke Aisawa’s Surrealist Sculpture Mother Bird,... Wait,,, What!?

To activate this feature, press the "CC" button.

Aisawa, who works for a company that makes puppets and props for horror movies, made an especially scary sculpture of a bug-eyed bird lady monster that was displayed at a commercial art gallery in 2016; it made its way onto Instagram, then to the bowels of Reddit (which at that point was mostly bowel), to Kim Kardashian’s 129 million-follower Instagram, and today you probably know the sculpture as Momo, the horrible creature who tells teenagers to kill themselves on YouTube (originally WhatsApp)... The Charity Fashion Show With Deaf Models

Deaf News: 'Deaf' fashion show gets resounding round of applause.

CAPE TOWN -- Africa News Agency: Hands shot up and voices shouted as people vied for outfits at the Solidarity through Fashion auction in Newlands, Cape Town on Saturday night.

The auction followed a fashion show held on International Day for Persons with Disabilities to create awareness about deafness and raise funds for the Deaf community.

The models were Deaf and wore Binca Smith’s Zonya D collection, which was a delightful expression of summery colours and playfulness with contemporary lines and African prints. The collection included bridal gowns.

Newly crowned Mr South Africa Habib Noorbhai was a guest.

The MC, DeafSA Western Cape provincial director Jabaar Mohamed, kept the audience entertained with witty comments that were interpreted for members of the audience who did not understand South African sign language (SASL).

After two musicians played Mohamed quipped, “I’m Deaf but I can feel the vibrations.”

“I am proud to be Deaf,” he went on, explaining that he did not ascribe to the “shame factor” that some people had towards people with disabilities, as a disability did not define one’s ability.

Prizes were announced during the lucky draw and two winners received free SASL lessons with DeafSA, while one won a two-day stay at a Radisson Blu Hotel.

The concept for the fashion show came about after a few ideas were thrown about and Smith was willing to explore the concept and work with the deaf community.

Mohamed, who started up the Silent Walk in 2012 to create more awareness about deafness, said he was passionate about the Deaf community and advancing its rights.

“There are a lot of challenges in the community” and the fashion show “was a way to create awareness and an opportunity to give back to the community and raise funds for the community”.

Mohamed told Africa News Agency (ANA), “I’ve seen a lot of hearing people do fashion shows and I have seen them run the Mr, Miss, and Mrs Deaf competitions. I felt there should be a fashion show that wasn’t a competition and continued to uplift and empower all Deaf participants afterwards, and that it should be something fun.

“There needs to be more awareness about deafness and I want to see all government departments and the private sector become more involved in deaf awareness and see that they can make a difference through the Solidarity through Fashion platform.”

It was very important to raise Deaf Awareness through such platforms as “you don’t know who is deaf or who is hearing as the audience is mixed”, he said.

Noorbhai, who can sign, told ANA that “It is fantastic you can do solidarity shows like this. It is needed across many disability spheres to raise awareness and educate people about the cause. With the Deaf community, society needs to realise that the Deaf can do anything but nothing, which means we need to trust their ability.”

Smith told ANA that at the start of the project, which took two months to come to fruition, she was nervous. “I had never worked with the Deaf community.

“It was a very humbling experience as it made me realise how lucky I am to be able to hear.”

She said she enjoyed working with the Deaf models, “they walked perfectly even though they didn’t hear the music”.

“The show was very creative and beautiful,” said Kathija Khan, a Deaf project manager who attended. “Fashion is a big world and it is good to get deaf people involved and include them in this world as it opens doors for them. Deaf people can do anything and they are perfectly capable of doing something when they are given the platform.”

Deaf Self Portrait: This Machine Is A Human

Deaf Canadian activist, Landon Krentz on being Deaf: This machine is a human - Self-portrait to raise awareness about a life with CI.

Landon Krentz is a Vancouver-based arts and events management professional and Deaf-queer individual. He has created a series of social media self-portraits to raise awareness of issue that Deaf people face. This is the second self-portrait in his series.

Are we programmed to behave robotically in social environments?

The cochlear implant (or CI) received its approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in 1990 and it has been controversial for over two decades. This machine had a significant impact on Deaf culture due to the perception of hearing people trying to force it on the community. The greater the force, the more some Deaf community members want to flip a table. For them, the CI is nothing but a computer inside a human body.

In this image, this person is the embodiment of a betrayal of the Deaf world, though Deaf culture remains a part of him.

His experience of Deafness is like a porcupine: when there are social dangers, a quill pricks him for every awkward encounter.

Every day, he is reminded of his interaction with Audisms and ensures that they’re comfortable with him, even though a large percentage of the hearing world will avoid Deaf people due to communication barriers.

He is often caught “checking out” of a conversation and, like a machine, nodding with a pseudo smile.

This bionic human experiences stigma and judgment from both Deaf people and the hearing world because he belongs to neither.

Though his Deaf identity is invisible, he has a choice: to hide or to reveal his beautiful self.

The CI may be a machine and technology will never be perfect. The gap between both worlds the Deaf and hearing worlds are great. It is up to you to decide to proceed with an open mind towards acceptance of all auditory binaries and spectrums.

Wake Up Now Is A Pyramid Scam & Scheme

Wake Up Now is a pyramid scam or scheme. WUN scare tactics on video in ASL to offer up your downvotes on the altar of the MLM Gods.

Is "Wake up Now" a "Scam"? There are so many people hollering and hottest debating on the internet these today about the real truth about the Wake Up Now scam as well as for the WUN members.

What is the truth about Multi-level marketing (MLM) companies like "Wake Up Now"? It starts with a simple dream and become a reality judging from the experiences of business organizations and individuals engaged in direct selling or Multi level marketing. The Wake Up Now marketplace is a savings industry that has been come up with by Wake Up Now with the support partners such as Buy.com and Walmart.com to bring the savings directly to you for the most affordable and finest rates possible.

When it comes to scam, the fact of the matter is that no matter what you are involved in rather it be making money from home, the music industry, sports, real estate etc there are many scammers and con artists. We are living in extremely crucial times, either you are going to be very rich or very poor the chance for in between is dwindling. The people who generally make "Wake up Now Scam" statements are usually those that were a part of the company during time and that they didn't make any cash because they a get rich quick thinking process and they didn't desire to put in virtually any work.

Wake up Now - a scam is confirmed - don't be an idiot. If the push is entirely focused on convincing you to join - for a fee then to pressure all your friends and family to also join - for a fee, then encouraging them to do the same to their friends and family, it's a damned scam! Seen on http://www.vandruff.com/mlm.html, Multi-levelmarketing, Pyramid Scheme and Ponzi Scheme for more details. And no, of course Deaf YouVideo didn't fall for this. Neither should you.
