Albania TV Show Interview With Deaf Model

Rudina: Maria Taragjini represented Albania in Miss & Mister Deaf 2019.

TIRANA, Albania -- A beautiful and gorgeous 21-year-old Maria Taragjini is a Deaf woman with different abilities who does not speak or listen. But that has not stopped her from pursuing her dream. Maria represented Albania in the Miss and Mister Deaf 2019 competition that took place in Italy, ranking 5th.

Maria was invited today on the show "Rudina" on TV Klan to tell us more about this beautiful experience. Accompanied by her friend Loretta, who helps us communicate in sign language, Maria is currently a sophomore at the University of the Arts in the Department of Sculpture and Painting.

She has been living away from her family since coming to Tirana at the age of five to study at the school for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students. While her family still lives in Kodovjat village of Gramsh.

Representing Albania was a dream come true and ranking in fifth place was a great achievement, even though it says competition was strong.

“I competed with 5 outfits; in a red dress, in a black dress, in something fashionable, in bathing suits and in a red dress. The race was strong, lots of beautiful girls, lots of competition. I did not find it difficult, I felt safe after being helped by people in the field. Fulfilled the dream I had when I was little, I learned how to walk in the backyard, to be beautiful. Fulfilling the dream is something very big."

Marias says she likes to change her appearance often. “I like myself more blonde than brunettes. I love the change of appearance. My hair was blue. I really want to explore with myself."

Prejudice is another aspect Marian has often associated with throughout her life. In this beauty contest, messages were given that these young people would not be seen with a different eye. And this is what Mary seeks to say. Maria's message is, "Don't prejudge, but help, we're like you."

Deaf Actor Cast As Superhero In DC's 'Titans'

Deaf transgender actor Chella Man talks being cast in 'Titans' as Jericho for DC universe series.

LOS ANGELES -- DC’s “Titans” has found its Jericho. Deaf activist, artist and model Chella Man, who’s transgender, has been cast in the role, portraying the mute superhero who uses sign language to communicate with his teammates.

Man told HuffPost that Jericho has a special significance for him as a Deaf individual who regularly communicates using sign language.

Jericho’s primary mode of communication hits close to home,” Man said via email. “I rarely saw sign language authentically represented on screen growing up, so this incredible opportunity has made my heart soar.”

Titans” cast Man for its second season. Jericho, the superhero son of villain Deathstroke, can possess anyone he makes eye contact with.

Man’s involvement in the series is a win for representation. According to the Ruderman Family Foundation, 95 percent of characters with disabilities are depicted by able-bodied actors in television. The significance of his casting isn’t lost on him. He said it’s “imperative” to cast actors with disabilities for disabled characters.

“Individuals with disabilities have long been misrepresented and underrepresented by all industries,” he wrote. “Casting disabled actors/actresses for disabled roles will aid to authentically represent and deconstruct stereotypes built around our identities.”

Man said that he doesn’t feel any of his traits are limitations and that with his acting, he can exhibit that.

“Take it from a Deaf queer, Jewish person of color who has always dreamed of being a superhero and has now been granted that exact opportunity,” he said.

'ANTM' Contestant Nyle DiMarco's ASL Phrases

WATCH: ET Interviews: 'ANTM' Deaf contestant Nyle DiMarco names his sexiest feature and signs 'Top Model' phrases.

While it’s easy to brush off America's Next Top Model in its 22nd cycle, there’s one very hunky reason to still watch: Nyle DiMarco.

In fact, this cycle has been fun to watch as the guys an addition to the competition in cycle 20 have been bringing the drama, as well as the sex appeal.

Nyle DiMarco is one the show’s leading contestants, standing at 6’2” with piercing blue eyes and washboard abs. He also happens to be Deaf, which Tyra Banks and others initially thought of as a possible hindrance.

But over the course of the competition, the 26-year-old model has shown that it’s actually a benefit. DiMarco tells ET that reading body language comes naturally to him, helping him understand how to pose with his body.

The cycle 22 breakout sat down with ET to talk about embracing fame.

He can also shut out all the unending fights that take place in the house each week. “Fortunately, I'm Deaf, so I don't have to hear all of their drama,” says DiMarco, staying above the fray that often comes back to Banks’ Ty-Overs. “I just want to say that you all are complaining about hair, hair, hair. Am I complaining about my deafness? No, I am not.”

When it comes to his best assets, Banks and fellow judge (and PR maven) Kelly Cutrone have taken notice of his abs and waist, often asking him to remove his shirt during panel. And DiMarco totally understands. “My sexiest feature is my body,” he says, adding, “I work out a lot.” ... Read The Full Story.

Watch a preview from an upcoming episode of ANTM in which DiMarco’s housemates learn ASL phrases Top Models Learn ASL For Deaf Contestant.

About America’s Next Top Model - Cycle 22 of America’s Next Top Model, hosted by Tyra Banks, will feature the third “Guys and Girls” edition. Selected men and women living under one roof will battle it out to earn the prestigious title of America’s Next Top Model.

Eurovision Sign Language Interpreter is a Web Hit

Sweden's Eurovision finalist was chosen at the weekend but for many it was the bespectacled who signed the songs for Deaf people.

STOCKHOLM, Sweden -- Sweden's Tommy Krangh's silky dance moves quickly became a huge hit on social media with millions watching his video on Facebook and YouTube.

It takes a lot to steal the show from the notoriously flamboyant Eurovision entries, but this Swedish sign language interpreter's energetic moves and expressive gestures have managed to do just that.

Tommy Krångh has become an overnight sensation in Sweden after putting on the performance of his life, interpreting pop singer Magnus Carlsson's attempt to enter Eurovision.

But while Carlsson's upbeat tune may have failed to impress audiences in the Scandinavian country, being voted ninth out of 12 entries vying to represent at the annual competition, many are now calling for 48-year-old Krångh to take the stage for Sweden in Vienna this May.

The video of Krångh's exuberant interpretation has been shared thousands of times in Sweden, and across the world.

The delighted interpreter has told Swedish newspapers he was 'thrilled' with the reaction and has been 'love-bombed' on Twitter by people who enjoyed his energetic performance, even getting the odd marriage proposal.

'It´s been absolutely amazing,' he told MailOnline. 'I´ve been love-bombed from a thousands of people. People are even proposing to marry me. This is something I could never imagine.

'It's a once in lifetime experience after being a signer for so many years. I love that sign language gets so much attention at the moment.' ... Read The Full Story.
